Hello World!!

Well this is the first post of many from my daughter Lilly and myself. She and I have been discussing this and have decided that we would start a blog together. This should be quite the adventure for both us and you!

Our hope is that both Lilly and I will find motivation in our daily walks, and at the same time help others learn through our experiences. This will be two very different takes on the same blog. Already we are getting frustrated with each other about how to type this opening. We both have our own ideas as to how it should be written. Going forward however, your will be seeing two posts, one from myself and one from Lilly. We will, of course, always let you know who it is posting.

There will be times when we will discuss the same topic and other times we may be on totally different roads. There will probably be some disagreements but rest assured we are together on this.

Now to the title of this blog "Gorp 4 Life":

My daughter and I went on a hike. This was about 10 years ago and was just after we had finished reading The Hobbit. We had decided that we were going out to have our own little adventure, I told her that I was going to make something very special for us to eat while on our journey. That speacial treat was gorp. Gorp, if you do not already know, is simply a combination of nuts, raisons, m&m's, granola and what ever else you want to put in it. It was a huge success with my daughter, we climbed the moutain, enjoyed the view, and ate the gorp. It was a great bonding moment. Once we began discussing this blog, we thought about what it would represent for us. It was at this point that Lilly suggested "Gorp", I loved it! Ultimately that is what this will be, only instead of gorp for food, it will be Gorp 4 Life.

We are excited about what this will turn into for both of us. Bilbo Baggins said it best, " It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

Let the journey begin!
